Maternal and Newborn Care Kit Distribution
In July 2024, the Kia Yusuf Foundation carried out a maternal and newborn care kit distribution in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, focused on supporting mothers during the early postnatal period and ensuring newborns had access to essential daily items at a critical stage of life.
The distribution was conducted in a safe, structured setting to ensure privacy, dignity, and ease of access for mothers with newborns. Care kits were prepared and provided directly to mothers, with attention given to practical needs commonly faced during the weeks following childbirth. The activity prioritized calm engagement, clear guidance, and respectful interaction, particularly for mothers navigating early parenthood.

In addition to physical supplies, mothers received written educational materials designed to support early caregiving. Each family was provided with a copy of Les Aventures de Kia Yusuf (The Adventures of Kia Yusuf), a children’s book created by the Foundation to promote early literacy, bonding, and positive storytelling from infancy onward.
