Community Family Support Gathering

On August 10, 2024, the Kia Yusuf Foundation convened a community family support gathering in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The event brought together approximately 150 individuals, including children and family members, for a day centered on access to essential resources, educational engagement, and community connection.

The gathering formed part of the Foundation’s charitable activities during the 2024 operating year and was designed to provide families with practical support in a familiar, inclusive setting. Activities were structured to allow children to participate safely while families engaged collectively in the day’s programming.

Essential and Personal Items Provided

As part of the gathering, families received essential personal and household items intended to support daily well-being and stability. Items distributed included:

Children’s clothing and age-appropriate footwear
Personal hygiene supplies, including soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and sanitary items
Household care essentials to support basic living needs
School-related materials to assist children during the academic year

These items were provided directly to families to ensure accessibility and appropriate use within the household.

Educational Materials and Literacy Support

In addition to essential items, the Foundation distributed copies of its children’s book, Les Aventures de Kia Yusuf (The Adventures of Kia Yusuf). The book was written and published by the Kia Yusuf Foundation and shared with children and families as part of its ongoing efforts to encourage early reading, literacy development, and culturally relevant storytelling.

Community Participation

The gathering also included brief addresses and discussions led by invited community figures and guest speakers, including Yasmine Reda and Coach Farah, who engaged with women and families on themes related to personal development, confidence, and community resilience. These contributions were conversational in nature and aligned with the Foundation’s focus on family-centered support.
